Description :-
Varun is a wild or cultivated small to medium-sized, deciduous tree that may reach a height of 50 feet. It is found along streams, also in dry, deep boulder formation in Sub-Himalayan tracts, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Bengal and Assam. . Thickness of bark usually 1-1.5 cm according to the age, outer surface, greyish to greyish-brown with ash grey patches, at places, surface rough due to a number of lenticels, shallow fissures and a few vertical or longitudinal ridges, inner most surface smooth and cream white in colour, tough and short fracture, indistinct odour, slightly bitter in taste.

Medicinal Uses :-
- It is used in Kidney disease, urinary calculi, dysuria (painful urination) and cystitis.
- It is used in anorexia, tumors and liver disorders and externally.
- It is used as a poultice for the treatment of cervical adenitis, abscess, enlarged spleen, rheumatic joint pain, and edematous wounds.
